Newsletter: Template Redesign

Task: Create a newsletter template system in order to align with revised email template design. Template system should be fluid enough to allow for versioning and testing of monthly commercial and consumer newsletters.

Challenges: Applying design styles to communications with multiple content partners with varying priorities and business goals. How to make time to market more efficient and newsletter more applicable to the customer audience.

Project Partner: Office RM product team

Role: Lead Producer, managing design process and review and approval cycles. Briefing dev and third party agencies on usage of new system.

Results: Using the email template system my team built wireframes and more polished versions with images. By clearly defining the modules to be used in each newsletter and pre-coding similar to emails the creative production cycle decreased by 2 weeks.

 

The template system allowed content partners more time to finalize the newsletter features, especially when tied to a specific product launch. This allowed content to specifically tailored to the customer audience. My design team used the additional time when needed to generate screenshots or UI images.  The dev team used the additional time for translation because the use of templates allowed for newsletter expansion to global markets. Decreased creative production timing also allowed for variations in the newsletter, such as creating a lite version to test.
