Task:  Create app illustrations to be used on My Office page in Windows 10 to convey to users actual app functionality instead of using standard app icons.

Challenges: Representing the app clearly but without using an actual UI screenshot. Bringing apps that have look and feel outside of Office into this illustration style.

Role: Lead Producer, managing design process and review and approval cycles.

Results: This task was given to my team because of availability. I had an Art Director available that was able to take on this project.  Input from the Office team was highly ambiguous and comprised of them not wanting to use the app icons and should be able to be localized.

​

Using the UI screen shots provided myself and my Art Director audited the key elements that stood out for each app; page layout for Word and graphs and pivot tables in Excel and reproduced in a simple graphic style. Highlights of color were added from the app color palates as well as room for increased descriptive content. The revised illustrations are seen on 400 million desktops of Windows 10 users worldwide.
