Email: Tips and Tricks

Task:  Create a series of 6 emails and 6 videos that show users how to use various tips and tricks to work in Office 365 more efficiently.

Challenges: Working with a product owner that wanted a Ferrari on a Yugo budget. Representing the app and being helpful to customers without using app UI.  Content should be less about the product and more about providing a learning experience and doing so in snackable sized video. Customers should come away feeling like they learned something. Working with a new third party agency at the end of fiscal year.

Project Partner: Office RM product owner, third party agency

Role: Lead Producer, managing design process and review and approval cycles. Budgeting and project management of third party agency.

Results: The emails and videos produced were the end result of extensive discussion regarding the Office brand design language. My designers used a style for the apps that was rooted in the actual UI but worked in accent colors from the app itself. This style carried over to the videos as well which helped with continuity as they were developed by two different teams.

Originally, this project was set to finish at the end of Q4 but wound up carrying over into Q1 because of additional revisions to the animation. The RM product owner expected that the timing was going to be a challenge so he was open to adding more time but not any more of the original $100k budget.
